Teletext, radio catches up with channels, colour keys and new options

  • Teletext — a complete EBU decoder built into the app, so it works over HTSP and HTTP: colour text, mosaic graphics, subpages, Fastext links and all European character sets. On TV in More → Teletext or the control bar, on phones with a touch bar.
  • Radio caught up with Channels — a guide for stations, what is playing now and next, favourites with a star, hidden stations and numbering from 1.
  • Favourites can be reordered by dragging on the phone, and favourite channels are marked with a star in lists, grids and tiles.
  • Colour keys on a TV box: red Channels, green Radio, yellow Archive, blue Settings. Launcher shortcuts and the favourites row on the Android TV home screen.
  • New options, off by default: switch channel with a single OK, the TV Channels and Radio tiles open the list right away, ask for the recording profile for each recording, and Record straight from the channel list (hold OK).
  • Fixes: playback and recordings on servers limited to one connection, smoother accelerating seek in recordings, the guide opens on the playing channel, and the programme cache no longer freezes the app.

Standby fix for TV boxes, favourites in your order, hidden channels

  • After waking a TV box from standby the channel played without sound and the app froze when closing the player or switching channels. The app now detects the dead audio output and replaces the player at once — sound is back within a second.
  • Waking the box no longer closes the running player; the app is just brought to the front.
  • Favourites keep the order you add them and are numbered 1…n in the Favourites group; typing a number on the remote picks by that order.
  • Reorder favourites with the remote: hold OK on a channel → Reorder favourites. OK picks up, ▲▼ move, OK puts down, BACK finishes.
  • The Favourites group is remembered after a restart, and a new Hidden channels group lets you bring hidden channels back.
  • Fixes: exit confirmation on TV boxes with PiP, channel list loaded twice at start, edge-to-edge without deprecated APIs.

Recording — schedule, stop and delete from the app

  • Recording (DVR): schedule and cancel from the guide, a programme detail or the player; stop running recordings and delete finished ones from the archive.
  • Recording indicators: a badge for recording / recorded / scheduled, and a red dot on channels currently being recorded.
  • A DVR profile can be chosen for each server, or left to the server.
  • On TV the app can start with the channel or radio station you were last watching, with the channel list and groups loaded.
  • Radio can be filtered by tag, and the last selected group is remembered for TV and radio separately.
  • Radio and TV are now told apart by DVB service type, and the app sends its language preference for the EPG — the same way Kodi does.
  • Fixes: seeking in the archive, Matroska recordings, recording rights over HTTP, HDR switching off by default, and a crash after reinstalling.

Stability and performance on low-end TV boxes

  • Fixed a crash on boxes with little memory when loading channels and the EPG — the app now asks the system for a larger heap and uses shorter default EPG ranges on such devices.
  • Smoother playback over Wi-Fi: the app keeps the Wi-Fi chip awake while streaming, so Android no longer delivers stream data in bursts.
  • The Archive no longer lists recordings whose file was already deleted on the server.
  • The channel bar no longer overlaps the player controls — only one overlay is shown at a time — and it follows your theme colours.
  • The audio output option (Automatic / Passthrough / PCM / Stereo) is now available on phones as well.
  • Lower CPU and memory use while streaming, and stream timing that follows the MPEG-TS standard more closely.

Channel zap bar, clock format, picture-in-picture fixes and audio-delay fix

  • New zap bar on TV — switching channels with CH+/CH− shows the channel logo, number, current programme and progress like a classic TV; the previous channel overview can be re-enabled in Settings → Appearance.
  • New time-format option (Automatic / 24-hour / 12-hour) applied across the whole app; Automatic follows the system setting and reacts immediately.
  • Picture-in-picture on TV now lives only inside the app — pressing Home no longer leaves a floating miniature over other apps, and leaving the app closes it automatically.
  • Fixed an orphaned PiP window (and possible black screen) when selecting another channel from the guide while the player was miniaturised.
  • Radio no longer enters picture-in-picture — leaving the radio player hands playback to the background service.
  • Fixed audio delay on some TV boxes: the default audio output is now PCM; bitstream passthrough for AV receivers remains available in Settings → Sound.

Audio-sync fix, stability improvements and Android 16 support

  • Fixed audio lag on live HTSP streams — the player now lets libVLC align audio and video itself instead of forcing frame timing, so sound stays in sync on phones, TV boxes and Android TV.
  • Fixed a crash that could occur when the app was closed and reopened quickly, or reopened while still loading: the HTSP parser now rejects malformed or partial data instead of allocating huge buffers, and the connection is always closed cleanly on exit.
  • The TV guide no longer stays blank after an interrupted load — only complete data is cached, so closing the app mid-load doesn't leave an empty guide next time, and startup is faster thanks to better caching.
  • New adjustable network buffer (Small / Medium / Large) for smoother playback on Wi-Fi and mobile data, plus a TV home screen fix so the date and time stay visible when the top buttons are focused.
  • Updated to target Android 16 (API 36), removed unused code and improved translations across all 31 languages.

Stream profile switcher, compact TV guide and more reliable playback

  • During HTTP live playback you can now switch the Tvheadend stream profile (pass, matroska, transcoding profiles…) directly from the player controls — on phone and TV alike. The selected profile is saved as the server's new default, so it applies to other channels too.
  • The TV guide on phones is now compact: it fits roughly twice as many channels and hours, the left column shows channel numbers and names, and everything scales to your screen size. Switch density with one tap right in the guide header (Compact/Comfortable); works in portrait and landscape, while TVs and tablets keep their layout.
  • Switching a server between HTSP and HTTP API now cleanly resets stored channel identities, EPG and the playlist, and the player can even repair a stale channel identity on the fly. No more endless “reconnecting” after changing the connection mode on TV boxes.
  • Changing the stream profile (for example to matroska) no longer switches subtitles on by itself — your on/off choice and selected language survive the stream restart and reset per channel just like with HTSP.
  • Radio now works on accounts with a connection limit: the TV stream is released before a station starts and the auth check no longer wastes an extra connection. Plus an unsaved-changes guard in the server form, flicker-free transitions between the player and the TV guide, and dozens of other fixes.

Filter and search channels on TV, decoder colour fix and HDR switch

  • On Android TV, the channel list in the player now has a group filter (All, Favourites, tags) and search by name. Press up to the pill with the D-pad to switch groups, or open search with the magnifier; favourite channels are marked with a star.
  • New option to fix wrong colours (blue/orange) on some TV boxes: it switches the hardware decoder to a compatible path, so decoding stays hardware and playback smooth.
  • You can now allow or block switching to HDR when auto frame-rate (AFR) changes the display mode, to avoid the HDMI re-sync and unwanted HDR flip on some boxes.
  • All settings switches now get consistent D-pad focus on the whole row, the program stays visible when switching channel groups, plus several other fixes and refinements.

New Appearance section, picon backgrounds and a solid info bar

  • A dedicated Appearance section in Settings now gathers the interface mode (classic or modern), the app theme (auto/light/dark) and the player theme in one place, so everything about how the app looks is easy to find and change.
  • You can choose the background behind channel and radio logos (picons) — keep the default, make it fully transparent, or pick one of several preset colours; handy when your logos are transparent or don't suit the default grey. Works on both TV and phone.
  • On Android TV you can switch on a solid background for the player info bar, so the channel strip stays readable over bright video. It's off by default.
  • Smaller fixes: switching the interface mode now keeps you on the same tab instead of jumping away, and the hint text above the channel strip is easier to read.

Recording indicator fix, crash fixes on large servers, and a TV guide filter

  • The recording indicator now shows only on the channel that is actually recording — before, channels sharing the same name and number all lit up; recordings are now matched by the channel's unique ID, the same way the Kodi Tvheadend client does it.
  • Fixed out-of-memory crashes on servers with a large program guide: the guide cache is now saved and loaded one channel at a time, so memory stays low however big your EPG is, and a cache error can no longer crash the app.
  • New: filter the TV guide by channel group — a button opens your groups/bouquets (plus Favorites), works with the D-pad on Android TV and by tap on the phone, and remembers your choice per server.
  • The "Today" label in the TV guide is now translated in every language.

Light theme for the player, background radio fixes and crash diagnostics

  • The modern player's on-screen controls (the channel surf bar) now follow the light theme too — previously they stayed dark. In dark mode everything looks exactly as before.
  • Fixed background radio on servers with digest authentication: the radio now keeps playing on the background panel after you leave the player, on both plain and digest servers, using the same connection path as the main player.
  • New crash diagnostics: if the app crashes or hits an error, a log is now saved. You can review and send it to us straight from Settings → About → Diagnostics — the e-mail is pre-filled with your device, Android version, app version and date, so you only add what you were doing.

Smoother picture, audio in sync, radio in the background and more

  • Automatic refresh rate (AFR): the display now switches to match the stream frame rate (e.g. 50 Hz for 25 fps broadcasts), so motion, pans and sports look smooth without judder. Works on Android TV (with an optional pause after the switch) and on phones via the system frame-rate API. On by default, can be turned off in Settings → Player.
  • Better audio sync: on passthrough to a TV or AV receiver the sound could lag behind the picture. The player now compensates for this delay automatically and re-syncs shortly after each channel switch, with a manual fine-tune option if your setup needs it.
  • Radio mini player: radio keeps playing in the background while you browse channels, EPG or the archive. Controls live in a bar above the tabs on phones, in the notification (survives a locked screen) and as a dedicated panel on the Android TV home screen, with station switching and picon.
  • Continue watching: the home screen now offers a rail with what you were watching, and resuming a recording from the last position was fixed so it no longer starts from the beginning.
  • Remote and playback: added and corrected remote keys (dedicated audio and subtitle buttons, MENU opens the on-screen controls), and Picture-in-Picture now respects its setting — with a manual PiP button when the automatic mode is off. Subtitle selection via the D-pad no longer switches the audio track by mistake.
  • Two interfaces: the app keeps both the classic layout and the modern redesign — pick what you prefer in Settings; live TV, recordings, radio and the archive all work in both.

Deinterlacing and new audio output options

  • New: deinterlacing (automatic or manual) — removes combing and jagged lines on fast motion on interlaced channels.
  • New: audio output options to fix out-of-sync or delayed sound — passthrough to your TV/AVR on Android TV and an OpenSL ES mode on phones.

  • Audio tracks now show their language instead of a generic number.

  • Parental lock (PIN) — the PIN is always required when opening a locked channel, reliably even after start.

  • New in settings: "Reload channels, EPG and picons"; fixed the TV exit dialog.
